Nordic Leader Network is an  cooperation that currently involves 8 Swedish and Finnish LAGs. The network is developed as a Leader+ trans-national initiative "Nordic Leader Dimension". 

Are there any similarities in the implementation of the Leader + programme,  the development of methods and cooperation with governmental officials in rural development in the Nordic countries by comparison to the rest of Europe?

The goal is to unite existing NGOs in order to create a Nordic Network for local development and intensified cooperation. The concrete and lasting effect of the project is to strengthen the Nordic cooperation in rural development by uniting the concerned partners in an organisation whose main focus is the development of methods and the exchange of experiences between LAGs and LAG-like NGOs in the Nordic countries and immidate areas.  This cooperation will result in more concrete and better planned development projects in Nordic Rural Development.

An important aim is also to strenghten the Nordic Dimension in rural development before the next programming period and thus guarantees that the special needs of the rural areas in the north are satisfied in the new, larger Europe.

 

An essential idea in our cooperation is to bring to attention the work in rural/local development that has been done in our areas. We strive to give birth to new ideas and actual projects that lead to an intensification of transnational cooperation among participating LAGs.
