Leader+ Sjuhärad
Improvement of the quality of life by preserving and developing thel local natural- and cultural heritage of the Sjuhärad area.

Local conditions
The LAG area comprises the whole Sjuhärad district, which includes the municipalities of Borås, Ulricehamn, Mark, Bollebygd, Herrljunga, Svenljunga and Tranemo. The population centers of Borås, Ulricehamn and Mark are not defined as rural areas and are as such excluded from the program. 87 600 rural inhabitants are included in the Leader area.

The main theme of the local development programme is Quality of Life by preservation and development of the local natural and cultural heritage of the Sjuhärad area. Local development projects have been implemented by all three sectors, with an emphasise on the ideal sector.

Tourism and culture have been predominant project themes, but small businesses and local products have also been important project themes. Youth activities have also received a lot of attention.

Transnational cooperation in Leader
Transnational cooperation work in the Leader+ Sjuhärad LAG started rather late in the programming period, focusing mainly on transnational exchange. The LAG aspires to work with more transnational cooperation in the next programming period. Adding a transnational level to a local development project is generally perceived as an added value.

There is a strategy for action 2 cooperation projects but implementation has been a problem, partly because there has not been time to prioritise this work, but also because interested partners have not been in a ready state for cooperation.

Leader+ Sjuhärad is for the time being in cooperation with the Karhuseutu LAG in Finland. The project is about the marketing of local crafts.
