What is Kustlandet?
Kustlandet is a plan for rural development
within the European Union group initiative,
Leader +. It is a development plan for
the Northern Småland and Östergötlands coastal parishes for the period
2000-2006.This means that the EU, together with National official financiers
supports projects
linked to Kustlandet with approximately
56 million SEK until the end of 2006.
Kustlandet stretches from Bråviken in
the north to Timmernabben in the south,
comprising every parish district that has
contact with the Baltic Sea. Some of the
official financiers for Kustlandet are; Östergötlands District and county
Councils, Kalmar Regional Authority, as well as the communities of
Norrköping, Söderköping,Valdemarsvik, Västervik, Oskarshamn, Mönsterås and
others.
Activities
Kustlandet means in English Coastland
and conceives a business concept out of
the local spheres of interest within this
coastland area. Local activity generates a
sound development for the good of both
inhabitants and visitors.
Project financing for
development strategies
can be applied for in the following
areas during the period 2000-2006:
• Education and research
• Environmental issues
• Cultural promotion
• Local development and strategies for
encouraging participation
• Efforts to promote women’s issues
• Activities for young people
• Tourist promotion
• Other local enterprise
Financial support may be
applied for by various societies, organisations, farmers,
farming groups, other small businesses,
and the public sector. Projects may also be
headed by the Local Action Group (LAG).
To obtain project financial support applicants
are also required to make their own
contribution.
